Author Biography

I enjoy writing about health in a way that appeals to the general reader. My new book is about acid reflux and heartburn - a fresh look at a very common health problem. The key cause of reflux is a mechanical failure at the top of your stomach, not an excess of acid or a problem with digestion. In Reflux and Heartburn I suggest ways to help the valve at the top of your stomach to work more efficiently, to prevent acid backflow and reduce your need for medication or surgery. My first book, Your Intelligent Immune System, explains how the body works in sickness and health. It looks ay myths about boosting the immune system and suggests how you can take care of your own immune system and get the best out of it. I have B.Sc and M.Phil. degrees from the University of Wales and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Southampton. I have worked as a science teacher in secondary schools and as a staff trainer in the National Health Service and the water industry. I have also been an antenatal teacher, a mother, a school governor and teacher of yoga. I was born in South Wales but now live on the beautiful island of Anglesey, of the coast of North Wales.
