A loss of critical power to sources of community stability such as small businesses interrupts quality of life and can also cause serious economic implications if power is not quickly restored (Farrell, Lave, & Granger, 2002; Kharchenko & Brezhnev, 2012; Mitroff & Alpaslan, 2003b). Businesses that are prepared for, or prone to, crises become a critical component of national crisis/disaster resiliency (Herbane, 2013), and for those businesses that maintain a level of preparedness, stand ready to react to disasters through predetermined plans and training (Haddow, Bullock, & Coppola, 2011). The present study was concentrated on how small businesses addressed crisis management as influenced by interruption of electrical power.
