The roles\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof indigenous healers were presented by prominent theorists, placing the practices of\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003emediumship and psychic surgery into perspective as indigenous healing phenomena.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe essential principles and common factors in healing as described in other systems\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof healing models were also presented. Following this description of the Filipino\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eespiritistas' indigenous healing system, while incorporating these essential elements\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof healing (according to the prominent systems of healing theorists), this author's\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003econclusion is that more research of indigenous healing practices in the Philippines\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eis vital to a better understanding of the role of human consciousness in illness and\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ehealing experiences. The research question was: What is the system of healing used\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eby the Filipino espiritistas?
