Clearly, the\u003cbr\u003e problem of corporate crime transcends the micro level of the individual 'rotten\u003cbr\u003e apple' although corporate crimes are ultimately committed by individual\u003cbr\u003e members of an organization, they have more structural roots, as the enabling\u003cbr\u003e and justifying organizational context in which they take place plays a defining\u003cbr\u003e role. Organizations provide individuals with positions, incentives, networks, rules, \u003cbr\u003e routines, perceptions and beliefs, that structure the opportunities for crime. Thus, \u003cbr\u003e organizational factors can explain how misconduct in organizations is defined, \u003cbr\u003e perceived, normalized, organized, and facilitated on the one hand, and controlled\u003cbr\u003e and prevented on the other hand.\u003cbr\u003e Organization studies have a long tradition of studying misconduct and deviance in\u003cbr\u003e organizational contexts.
