Her major areas of research are the history of psychiatry and psychology in the 19\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e and the 20\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e centuries, the relationship between human sciences and natural sciences, epistemological issues in the history of psychiatry, and scientific biography. She has published several papers as journal articles and as chapters in edited books, as well as six books, including the first scientific biography of Ugo Cerletti, the inventor of Electro-Convulsive-Therapy.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMethodologically, her focus has been archival research on primary and unpublished sources.
