She graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Summa Health System in Akron Ohio. She has worked as a community emergency physician since 2001, and moved to Bowling Green, Ohio, to pursue her PhD in Applied Philosophy at Bowling Green State University.
