He worked for key political figures such as Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young and Chicago Mayor Harold Washington. He was campaign manager for The Reverend Jesse Jackson, the first Black man to run for President of the United States. Preston Love Jr. pursued work in the civil rights movement early in his career and is passionate about continuing his work in his hometown neighborhood of North Omaha. He is presently teaching politics at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1966.
